Georadar & utility detection

GPR scanning locates pipes, cables and objects underground - without digging, across large areas and confined sites alike.

03 - Georadar Overview

What we deliver

With georadar (GPR) we locate and map pipes, cables, foundations and other objects underground - without digging. With advanced georadar equipment we map the subsurface across large areas and smaller, confined sites alike. That gives you an overview of hidden installations and underground structures, so you can plan the work on a better-informed basis and reduce the risk of surprises during excavation.

How we work Georadar

01

Scanning with georadar

When the position of buried objects is uncertain, georadar - also known as GPR scanning - is an effective method for precise mapping beneath soil, concrete, stone and other surfaces. The technology reduces uncertainty and gives a clear overview, so you avoid unnecessary digging and, at worst, costly damage.

  • Water supply
  • Gas
  • Cables and voids
  • Hidden foundations
  • Reinforcement in concrete
  • Buried oil tanks

02

See the unseen - including what is not in LER

We find buried materials without digging and deliver the results with precise coordinates that can be used later. We can also check and confirm utility positions against LER, which reduces the risk of strike damage.

One of georadar's most valuable qualities is that it finds utilities and other underground objects that are not correctly registered in LER. That means fewer unpleasant surprises during construction.

03

GPR Stream UP for large areas

With GPR Stream UP we extend scanning to large projects such as roads, streets and farmland, where the unit covers both on-road and off-road ground. Stream UP can work in urban areas without slowing traffic: up to 120 km/h in transport mode and a suggested survey speed of 50 km/h. The system is multi-channel, multi-frequency, dual-polarised and lightweight - built for mapping utilities across large areas.

  • Fast scanning: large areas are covered efficiently, and time on site drops
  • Cost-effective: precise data helps avoid costly damage to utilities and keep schedule and budget
  • User-friendly software: data is easy to view and analyse and can be carried on into the documentation

04

Safer projects with precise data

GPR scanning makes it possible to identify, collect and document the relevant data about underground conditions - where unidentified objects are, and how deep they lie. The result goes into drawings and utility data in the format your systems use.

Frequently asked questions Georadar

What do customers ask about?

What can georadar find underground?

GPR scanning maps what sits beneath soil, concrete, stone and other surfaces. We find sewers and waste water, water supply, gas, cables and voids, hidden foundations, reinforcement in concrete and buried oil tanks - and deliver the result with precise coordinates you can carry on working from.

Can you find utilities that are missing from LER?

Yes. It is one of the most valuable things georadar does: we find utilities and other buried objects that are not correctly registered in LER, and we can check and confirm the positions LER does list. That measurably reduces the risk of strike damage.

How quickly can you scan large areas?

For large scanning projects such as roads, streets and farmland we use vehicle-mounted georadar, which covers both on-road and off-road ground. The suggested survey speed is 50 km/h and transport mode up to 120 km/h, so it can work in urban traffic without slowing it down.

Machine control

We prepare setting-out data and machine-control files - and load them, including via secure remote access - so the machines hit the mark first time.

Monitoring & surveillance

Continuous monitoring of movements, settlements and deformations on structures, buildings and infrastructure - so deviations are caught before they become damage.
