Onboarding and matching with your personal mentor - a secure start on exactly the same terms as the team.

Hands on
You get into the field and behind the screen with your professional guide at hand, practising the hands-on side of the trade.

Exam assignments
A guaranteed placement and support for your exam assignments, so study and practice work together.
Phase 04
Deep dive
We tailor the programme so you can sharpen your profile in exactly your field of interest - e.g. photogrammetry or scanning.
Phase 05
Onward
Wrap-up and future opportunities - for many the journey ends with a permanent position as a surveying technician at HLM.

How do you get in at HLM?
Who can become a trainee at HLM?
The trainee programme is for students on the Danish mapping and surveying technician course, and we offer it across the country. You get hands-on experience with the profession from day one and are guaranteed a work placement along the way.
How long does the trainee programme last?
The programme runs for 15 months and is divided into five phases, from training on the instruments to independent assignments. You are on a fixed salary throughout, and the content is planned together with your personal mentor.
What do I get besides a salary?
You get a personal mentor, help with homework, professional sparring and guidance on assignments during your studies - and you can use an HLM supervisor for your exam projects. The programme is tailored to the discipline you want to strengthen.
How do I apply for a work placement?
We accept placement applications on a rolling basis, because we offer placements in different periods across the year. You will hear back around a month before the placement starts. The number of places varies from period to period with capacity and current projects.
Can I send an unsolicited application?
Yes. If no posting fits, you can send an unsolicited application through our job portal under Open positions, telling us what you can do and where in the country you want to work. We go through the applications whenever an opening comes up at one of the seven offices.
